Our History 

American Medical Staffing was founded in January 2018 by American Surgical Professionals (ASP) to extend ASP’s medical services into the provision of Clinician and Allied Healthcare professionals. AMS in turn joined forces with Chesapeake Medical Staffing (CMS), a leading mid-Atlantic service provider, to bring extensive expertise, processes, and geographic reach to the company.

CMS was founded in 2001 by nursing leaders who recognized that agency nurses were a critical component of healthcare. They recognized an opportunity to advance clinician advocacy, improve payment accuracy, assignment preparation, and clinical support. These shortcomings ignited their passion to create an organization capable of delivering extraordinary experiences for healthcare professionals and for the facilities they serve.

AMS and CMS together offer a broad range of capabilities and service models, extensive geographic access, and substantial investment in the technologies that benefit clients and healthcare professionals, resulting in better patient outcomes.

Our Leadership Team

Missy Blankenship

Missy joined American Medical Staffing, a division of American Surgical Professionals as Executive Vice President in April 2019. Ms. Blankenship brings more than 25 years of leadership in healthcare staffing, recruiting, and workforce solutions. Prior to joining the Company, Ms. Blankenship held senior management roles at Elwood Staffing Services, Supplemental Health Care, SOS Staffing, and Sodexho Healthcare. Ms. Blankenship holds a Green Belt Six Sigma certification from Villanova University.

Terri Weller RN, MS

Terri co-founded American Medical Staffing in 2001 and currently serves on the leadership team as the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Clinical Quality. Terri has actively practiced nursing for more than 40 years, a career that includes decades as an ER nurse, baccalaureate educator and nursing leader. Terri is a Member of Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society of Nursing. She is a graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Towson, Maryland and holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland.

Brandon Wehner

Brandon joined American Medical Staffing as Vice President of Recruiting in January 2020. Brandon has been a leader in healthcare staffing for the past 17 years, most recently serving as Vice President of Operations at Supplemental Health Care. His passion and expertise is in team development and performance leadership. Brandon holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from Central Michigan University.
